He married his first cousin Lillie S./Lillis May8 Monk (Thomas D.7, Abigail6 Taft). Most information on this family has been provided by Clifford W. Monk (2112 Rebecca, Sioux City, IA. 51103). At the taking of the 1900 census, Thomas and his family were at Washita Twp (Custer County) Oklahoma, although it appears from the births of his children that the family had only recently arrived, having spent the previous 12 years in Iowa. In the 1900 census, Thomas' middle initial is given as B and his birthplace is reported as Missouri, both apparently erroneous. The 1860 census indicates Indiana as his birthplace and his parental household was in Indiana in both 1850 and 1860. Yet, family records say he was born at Unionville, Mo. Both Thomas and Lillis are buried at Correctionville (Woodbury County) Iowa.
The children Otto, Mary, Rachel, Rose, Ethel and Minnie Mae are buried where they died.
