James Madison Riddle was a Civil War Vereran, Company E. 5th Kentucky C avalry. They were divorced by 1880.
According to Marilyn Frazier, he was a twin with Harriet.
According to Rebecca Murphy, he was killed in the Civil War, and died a bout 1862 in Cumberland County. His property was described: April 4, 1856, Land on Ill, will to Lafayette A. Riddle. (Butler, Pg 327)

Hi Lois. I have obtained Capt. Thomas Speed's book "The Union Regiments of KY". It lists roster's of all the companies of the 5th, including aregimental history. Many of my relatives are listed. As far as the Riddles are concerned, in Company E: Lt. Abijah C. Riddle, Farrier James M. Riddle, and Pvt's Joseph F. and Arthur J. Riddle. I do not see any Bond's listed for any Company in the 5th. There is a Liewllyn Bond listed in the roster of the 13th KY Cav. Co. F. which was recruited from same area. This might be your Elzy Bond. Some of my Smith's and Mackey's were in the same unit. You should be able to send for pension records with that info. Good luck! Beckie
