Ms. Campbell was a resident of Des Arc Nursing and Rehabilitation Cent

Evelyn was a loving mother and grandmother and aunt. She encouraged her c
hildren and grandchildren to educate themselves, since she grew up in a ti
me when education was difficult to obtain. She attended her grandchildren
's ballgames, award banquets, band concerts, graduations, went to church w
ith them. She fully supported their meaningful school and extra-curricul
ar activities and was so proud of all their achievements. Many times, Gran
dma Campbell was the inspiration for her family to succeed in life. She w
as a strong-willed person who never gave up. The word "can't" did not exi
st in her vocabulary.
Among the struggles she faced in her life were many serious medical probl
ems. She lived through surgery for gallstones, kidney stones, colon resec
tion, broken wrists, hip replacement and cancer, which she bravely foug
ht and strongly and successfully defeated with her faith in God and tremen
dous will to live. God saw her through raising her step-son and her fo
ur daughters and helping with her many grandchildren. She cared for her s
ick parents until their deathwhile doing her wifely and motherly duti
es on the farm where they produced their own food. After the death of h
er mother, she assumed the responsibilityof caring for her brother who h
ad infantile paralysis after his birth and had lived his life unable to sp
eak plain enough for most folks to understand. She eventually placed h
im in a nursing home where he lived the rest of his life, but she did n
ot forget him. She visited him often and brought him home to visit the fa

In the early 1950's Evelyn and Walter's youngest daughter was stricken wi
