| Kinship of Charles Fremont Weiland |
In genealogy, some files go wonderful places. Others go nowhere fast. This is one of the latter group.Charles Fremont Weiland, born in Ohio, undoubtedly had many adventures in the American West as a newspaper writer in territorial North Dakota. Shortly after Washington statehood he and his family settled in Spokane, where he lived for over twenty years and worked as a business accountant. But of his roots and family virtually nothing is known, and this is an area of active research for us at this time. His final arrangements reflect the sparsity of knowledge about the rest of his life. C F died shortly after the start of the Great Depression and his family could not afford to bury him. The ashes were left at the funeral home. Located again in our research just a few years ago, to this day his urn rests in my linen closet, awaiting disposition!
