| Kinship of Thomas Edgely Worsley |
Thomas Edgely Worsley was born in Canada in 1846 shortly after his parents (James Worsley and Mary Edgely) emigrated there from somewhere in England. Concentrations of the surname Worsley can be found in many of the midlands counties, and the medieval family of the same name has connections to the British royal family; however, it is without substantiation to suggest they may be one and the same family. The roots of these families is a topic of ongoing research. Once in America, Thomas and his brothers were craftsmen in bricklaying, teamsters, and laborers on several projects, including the Brooklyn Bridge and, out west, the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka. Thomas took out a homestead in Montana, from which he was driven during the Great Depression, and died in Oregon while in search of better times.
