| Kinship of Moise-Eduard Goudreau |
When with the genealogies of French-Canadian families, there are no half measures. One either breaks through to a fountain of knowledge, or one does not. Moise-Eduard Goudreau (later anglicized to Moses Edward) is an example of one that does not, or at least has not yet. He comes from a parish in Quebec (St-Georges) which does not exist in PDRH records; the names of his parents on his death certificate do not match known Loiselle marriages; and reputed relatives left behind in Quebec have not yet traced forward to reveal a "gap" left by someone who sought his fortune in the American West. However, his origin is a topic of ongoing research, and correspondence is welcomed.
