"ML Armstrong died in Fossil 29 Sept 1896 of Bright's disease. He was born in Madison Co., Illimois 21 April 1831 and crossed the plains with his father's family in 1852. He settled on the lower Columbia River, living on Sauvies Island and in Vancouver, following his trade of brick maker.
He lived for a time in Portland. In 1876. he went to eastern Oregon and has resided in Gilliam Co., ever since."
Correct name was Marguis De Lafayette, but went by name Marcus or Markus.
