Individual:
Daniel moved with his parents to Harrison Township, Darke County, Ohia
about 1826. There he meet and married Catharine Bollinger (daughterof Isaac Bollinger and Anna Blocher). After the death of his firstwife in 1867, he relocated to Wabash County, Indiana were he remarriedto the Charles Hopkins' widow, Agnes Booth in 1868.
When the German Baptist Brethren Church divided in the 1880's, Daniel and his family went with the conservative branch, thereafter calledthe Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
Daniel and Agnes moved to Wheatfield Township, Jasper County, Indiana in 1888 with his oldest son, Isaac and several other children andtheir families.
In 1901, four years after the death of his 2nd wife, Agnes, Daniel joined with his son, Isaac and Isaac's family to homestead nearSurrey, Ward County, North Dakota. Daniel died there and his homestill stands to this day.
According to his grandson, Charles Monroe Blocher, Daniel was a Blacksmith as well as a Farmer and that when he gotten old he builthimself a wheelchair. Don't know if he couldn't walk or it wasgetting to be too difficult.
When he got old he asked his grandson George, the son of Isaac Blocher, to build him a coffin because George was a good Carpenter.George did build it and George's wife Sarah lined it.
Charles Monroe Blocher recalls that his Grandfather spoke fluently in both high and low German.According to a letter from Dora Alice (Blocher) Hadler, he was living
in the home of his daughter, Anna (Blocher) Johnson, who told herdaughter, Laura, to check on him. Her daughter came back saying"Grandpa is sleeping with his head on his cane!". Anna thought thatwas very unusual, so she checked in on her father, and he was founddead, with his head balanced on his cane.
According to Leona Faye (Blocher) Small, "When Daniel died he was living with his daughter Anna and her husband David Johnson nearCando, North Dakota. I heard that he was found sitting in a chairresting his head on a cane he was holding in front of him. He isburied near Surrey in Ward County, North Dakota."
Marriage:
Daniel and Catharine were 1st cousins once removed. They moved to
Lagro Township, Wabash County, Indiana in 1844 where his sistersElizabeth Leedy and Sarah Parrett were residing.
