According to Adin Baber, there is no record showing Peter Hanks was a son of Thomas and Elizabeth Lee Hanks. However, since Thomas was the only Hanks of record at this early period, it is assumed he is the father of Peter. There is a record of the marriage of Peter Hanks and Mary Beez in the record of St. Ann's Parish of Anne Arundle Co., Md. In the same record, children of this marriage are listed as Lydia, William, Elinor, and Peter. This record also includes their dates of birth.
Peter was a carpenter & cooper (barrel maker) by trade. Peter drew his will on April 1, 1733, died April 10, 1733. His will was probated on July 24, 1733 at Annapolis, MD. The inventory listed 11 head of cattle, 2 mares, 4 sheep, household and kitchen utensils and other ordinary items.
