BARKLEY K.3 GILLESPIE (JAMES2, JAMES1) was born 19 Dec 1826 in Hickory, Washington Co, PA, and died 28 Nov 1891 in Guernsey Co., OH.He married SUSANNA BARNES 10 Jan 1854 in Guernsey Co., OH. She wasborn 20 Apr 1827 in Jefferson Twp., Guernsey Co., OH, and died 8 Apr1907.
A short article in The Jeffersonian of Jan 22, 1891under Odell reads, "B. K. Gillespie has been suffering greatly for some time past withstomach trouble."
In Dec. 3, 1891 issue The Jeffersonian reported the death of B. K. Gillespie. His obit appeared on Dec.10. It reported, "On Saturdayafternoon, Nov. 28, 1891, at his residence, Mr Barkley K. Gillespie,died from heart and stomach diseases. Mr Gillespie was born inWashington county, Pa. in 1826 and at an early age moved with hisparents to Guernsey county Ohio, locating near the line of Monroe andJefferson townships, on the farm known as the James Smith farm, fromthere over into Jefferson township, where he has been a residentalmost all his life.---He was married to Susanna Barnes, and they had9 children, all of whom are living. He was an elder in the U. P.Church, North Salem--- Funeral services were delayed until Thursday3rd waiting arrival of two children from Little Rock, Ark.----He wasburied in McCleary graveyard."
The two children referred to were Henry Gillespie and sister Louisa of Little Rock, Ark.
The Dec. 10th newspaper also reported that Messrs. James and Henry Taylor, William Gillespie of Fairpoint, Belmont county, Ohio attendedthe funeral of their uncles B. K. Gillespie and Thomas Taylor.
