Obituary: A. W. Simons
Artemus Ward Simons passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 1920 at the home of his brother-in-law, Joseph Slocum of Pauupack, aged 57 years. He is survived by a son and a daughter, Leland of Northumberland & Nancy of Paupack; three sisters and two
brothers, Mrs. Jennie Williams and Mrs. C. B. Gale of Hamlin; Mrs William Geiger of Elmhurst; O. K. Simons of Scranton, and F. B. Simons of Ledgedale. In 1893 the deseased married Helen Kimble of Pauapck who died in 1913. Soon after, he broke
up housekeeping and went to live with relatives near his boyhood home. A few weeks ago, he went to the Slocum home at Paupack to visit his daughter who since the death of her mother has lived with her uncle and aunt. There the complications
of ailments from which he had suffered for about 3 years took a serious turn and despite the faithful ministration of friends and physicans death claimed him. Mr Simons was a respected citizen, a fond father and a loyal friend. He was a
carpenter by trade and a member of the Methodist Church of Paupack. Funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon and he was laid to rest by the side of his wife in the family plot at Paupack. Rev. Clarence Carter of Lakeville being the Clergyman.
